When I first saw Caleb Witte’s giraffe, I thought, “That’s it, the giraffe I’ve been looking for all this time.”
Designing a good giraffe is no small feat. It's a tricky animal to capture in paper, especially if you want something that looks graceful and is still accessible to fold. Caleb’s model checks all the boxes: it looks clean and elegant, and quite beginner-friendly... except for one tricky sink fold.
Fortunately, our talented artist and diagrammer Jimena Candia found a clever way to simplify the sequence. (Did you know that creating clear origami diagrams is a craft in itself? I’ll tell you more about that another time.)
The result is a beautifully proportioned giraffe with satisfying geometric lines. I hope you’ll enjoy folding it, and if you do, don’t forget to tag us on socials or leave a comment on the site. We’d love to see your version!
