🎁 Useful Origami Boxes, and a New Newsletter in Prep

Origami Break
Hi Reader,
Origami boxes have always been one of my favorite things to fold. They’re simple, practical, and the moment they pop into shape always feels a little magical.
Today, we’re sharing two box models I really enjoy: a sweet, easy candy box, and a more challenging hexagonal box by Nick Robinson, adapted from Shuzo Fujimoto. Clean lines and gentle geometry. They’re both a pleasure to fold.
– Flo, here! As Saki mentioned in her last newsletter, I’ll be taking over from now on. If you follow our site's tutorials, you’ve probably come across my work already. I hope you’ll enjoy reading from me directly.
As I take things over, I'd love to know you better. Especially, where are you on your origami journey:
Origami – Fold & Learn is a beginner-friendly app that guides you through folding all kinds of models like playful animals, stars, boxes, flowers, and more. One user wrote, “Really excited about having a structured beginner-to-master path to follow. Easily the best online origami guide I’ve come across so far.”
Recently featured as App of the Day on the App Store, Origami – Fold & Learn helps you explore new models at your own pace and slowly grow your skills, one fold at a time.
🎄 Advent of Tess 2025: 25 Days of Tessellation Tutorials
Madonna Yoder is running her Advent of Tess 2025 again this year with a daily tessellation fold from December 1 to 25. Each pattern builds gently on the previous ones, so you can enjoy learning at your own pace and see your confidence grow day by day. She wrote a lovely article about it for our blog if you’d like to learn more.
This beautiful Pineapple Box was folded and designed by Pierre-Yves Gallard, using just two hexagonal sheets, one for the box and one for the lid. The shapes twist in opposite directions, allowing the lid to screw neatly into place.
What makes this model so charming is the play of angles and geometry. Sharp folds that come together to create something warm and organic.
I'm also excited to share that the diagrams will be available in the Origami Circle this January.

We’re working on a new version of Origami Unfold that will spotlight one artist and one model at a time. You’ll find a short interview, folding tips, and, of course, diagrams.
The first edition arrives in December, and I’ll send a message soon with all the details.
Until then, happy folding!
