Hi Reader,

Autumn is in the air, and with it comes the crisp breeze, golden leaves, and cozy evenings perfect for folding. As nature shifts to warm tones and the days grow shorter, it's the perfect time to celebrate the season with fall-themed origami.

This week, I'm happy to share traditional autumn-inspired designs with you. We'll start with an easy origami leaf, simple yet elegant, just like those scattered across the autumn ground. Next, challenge yourself with a slightly trickier project: a snail that winds its way through more intricate folds. If you're in the mood for some woodland fun, we've also included instructions for a fox and an owl.

So, grab your autumn-colored paper, make yourself a warm drink, and let's fold together.

โœ‚๏ธ Scissors in Origami: Is It Still Origami?

One of the questions I often get asked is: "If we use scissors, is it still origami?" The traditional origami owl we featured in this newsletter calls for scissors, just like many other traditional Japanese designs. Cutting tools have been a part of the origami process for centuries, whether it's for prepping the paper sheet or adding detail.

That being said, I usually prefer not to cut the models I fold, but it's just a personal choice. What's your take? If you're curious about learning more about this, Russell over at Origami Expressions wrote an interesting piece that dives deeper into the topic.

I've always cherished discovering simple origami models folded by Japanese artists. They often reflect the seasons and are easy and relaxing to fold. For our autumn newsletter, I wanted to share these adorable origami pine cones designed and folded by Tatsukuri no Origami.

In the latest news, we're putting together a PDF instruction database that's only for our newsletter subscribers, so you won't have to keep typing in your email every time ๐Ÿ˜Œ

I'll see you in two weeks for our Tsukimi-themed newsletter. Happy folding!

๐Ÿ’› Monthly Sponsored Project

Every month, we pledge to donate 1% of our profits to a cause that is important to us. As creators who use paper for origami, we are conscious of our environmental footprint. Again, this month, we are excited to support the One Tree Planted project, where our donations will help reforest areas in need.
