Origami Unfold

🐊 Fold an origami crocodile, chameleon, and crane — plus what’s coming next!

Origami Unfold

Hi Reader,

August marks two years since we (Flo & I) took over Origami.me from Peter Saydak. What began as a project to breathe life back into an abandoned site has unfolded into an unexpected adventure. Along the way, we’ve grown close to this remarkable community of generous artists, welcoming folders, and the incredible art that binds us all together.

Today, we’re grateful to be building Origami.me alongside so many talented creators, and proud to share part of our success with them. And this is only the beginning. In just a few weeks, we’ll be unveiling a completely redesigned site and launching our origami membership, projects we’ve been carefully shaping over the past few months.

Most of all, we want to thank you for following and supporting us on this journey. We’ll keep folding forward, bringing you inspiring models, thoughtful tutorials, and new opportunities to discover the beauty and voices of origami artists around the world. – Saki

🎉 Coming Soon: Origami.me Membership

This October, our brand-new membership will open its doors with a spooky theme: Shadows and Folds. Members will get to fold João Charrua’s model “The Thing” and Sébastien Limet’s Skull and Little Devil.

Each month brings fresh models, workshops, and resources designed for beginner to intermediate folders, all in one place.

🎨 Origami Inspirations

This piece was created in response to a French law proposal that would reauthorize the use of a toxic pesticide. Sébastien combines folded skull and bees with paint to denounce decisions made over people’s lives. Sébastien shares: I needed to talk about my disgust with those who decide for us… but I prefer to express myself through the fold.
This origami skull will be featured in our membership this October.

🏃‍♂️ Origami World Marathon 6

The Origami World Marathon is back, bringing together 48 online workshops with some of the most talented designers and folders worldwide. You’ll find many familiar names like Gen Hagiwara, Oriol Esteve, Michelle Fung, and Boice Wong.

While every model looks amazing, I’m especially excited to fold Nguyễn Hùng Cường’s Maple Leaf, Julie Juniper’s Lion, and Nicolas Terry’s Squirrel. The lineup is packed with intermediate to complex models, offering both challenge and beauty. A great opportunity to push your skills further and discover new folding techniques.

🎨 Giving Artists More Visibility

We’ve been working with a developer to improve how we credit the talented people behind our tutorials. Designers’ names now appear right under the main heading, along with a dedicated author box. The same goes for diagram artists, whose work is just as essential.

We also created a brand-new Artists page where you can browse designers we collaborate with, discover their creations, and explore their contributions to Origami.me.

🎥 Smoother Video Tutorials

We’ve made a small but important tweak to our YouTube editing. The pauses we use to display diagrams on screen are now shorter, giving our tutorials a better flow.

We hope you’ll enjoy the smoother experience in our upcoming videos!

Exciting months lie ahead, and we’re glad you’re here with us.

Until the next edition, happy folding!
