🎅 Christmas Origami & a New Site Design
Published 3 days ago • 2 min read
Last week felt a little special at home. My son put together his first Christmas tree, something we never really did before becoming parents.
Watching him place the ornaments one by one made the whole moment feel surprisingly magical, especially in a family like ours with different cultures and traditions blending together.
If you’re celebrating this season, I hope it brings you a moment of warmth wherever you are.
And as the year winds down, thank you for spending part of it folding with us!
For this edition, I’ve gathered a few Christmas-themed models along with some fresh updates from the site and the Origami Circle.

December’s theme in the Origami Circle is Paper Dreams, a month where fantasy takes flight and imagination comes alive in paper. We’ve gathered a mix of playful, elegant, and mythical models for you to fold. From the Flying Pig and the Hippocampus to Sébastien Limet’s delicate Fairy, this month is all about letting paper carry you into new worlds.
I’m excited to share that the new Origami.me design is finally live. The layout is cleaner, the navigation flows more naturally, and our goal was to make everything feel easier and more pleasant to browse. We're still in the process of moving every page into the new look, but you can already explore the updated site and get a feel for the changes.
If you have a moment, let me know what you think about it!
This week’s inspiration comes from Riccardo Foschi and his wonderful Mr. Gnome, one of two gnome designs he created in 2022.
Riccardo recently released a tutorial for folding Mrs. Gnome, but I wanted to feature Mr. Gnome here since the photo fits the newsletter so well.
These models have a lot of charm with very few details, and that’s intentional. Riccardo once explained that removing the arms kept the folds clean, the color changes clear, and the paper manageable, while still capturing the essence of a gnome.
If you’d like to fold the companion model, his new Mrs. Gnome tutorial is now on YouTube.
Next week, I’ll send a new edition of Origami Unfold featuring Madhura Gupta and her beautiful modular design, Floral Swirls.
After that, we’ll take a short newsletter break until January.
Until then, happy folding!
